“…One of the main interests of the photocatalytic oxidation is its efficiency in destroying harmful organic pollutants and their mineralization, which generally was evaluated in terms of dissolved organic carbon elimination (DOC) [40,41]. For this reason, in this study we focused our attention on the determination of the extent of mineralization of the target molecule under the considered photocatalytic process conditions.…”

“…To avoid detector saturation, chlorination experiments were conducted in 500 mL headspace-free brown glass bottles in the dark at 25 ± 0.5°C with dissolved organic carbon (DOC) diluted to 2.0 mg/L and buffered at 7.0 ± 0.2 with 10 mM phosphate buffer. The chlorine dosage for each water sample was determined according to a preliminary demand test such that a final free chlorine residue of at least 1-2 mg/L remained after 72 h (Ma et al, 2013;Meng et al, 2016). After 72 h incubation, stoichiometric amounts of sodium sulfite were added to quench the disinfectant residuals, and the water samples were analyzed as soon as possible.…”

“…3D-EEM analysis was then applied to analyze the organic compounds present in the wastewater. The compounds were evaluated based on the position, shift, and intensity of each uorescence peak present in the obtained spectrum (Li et al 2016;Meng et al 2016). Figure 9 shows the 3D-EEM spectra of the untreated wastewater and wastewater samples after photo-Fenton treatment.…”
