Trends of permanent‐magnet synchronous machine drives

Abstract: Since permanent-magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) have numerous advantages over other electric machines, many of the motor drive applications have been changing their power sources from conventional adjustable speed drives like induction motors to the PMSMs. The most attractive points of the PMSMs are high efficiency and high power density.
