Chlorophyll Concentration and Physical-Chemical Parameters for Assessing Eutrophication Levels in the Cereja River, Bragança-Pa A B S T R A C TMonitoring the physical and chemical variables of the water, as well as the concentration of chlorophyll present in the phytoplankton community, can provide subsidies for environmental protection policies. The objective of this work was to carry out an evaluation of the eutrophication level present in the Cereja River, in Bragança PA, through the application of the chlorophyll a index and hydrological parameters, correlating eutrophication with anthropic actions in the surrounding region. Water samples were collected on the riverbank at four fixed stations in August 2018. The stations had sectors with different levels of anthropic impact. A Niskin bottle was used to carry out the sampling collections and later analyzes were carried out in the laboratory. The obtained values of chlorophyll a were used according to the calculation of the Trophic State Index (TSI). Among the temperature values, P2 was the one with the lowest value with 26.9°C, whereas P3 and P4 were the points with the highest values (27.8°C) each. Among the pH values, P1 was considered the most acidic with 5.7, in turn, P3 and P4 were the least acidic (6.3). Dissolved oxygen (OD) ranged between 1.13 mg/L-1 (P1) and 4.12 mg/L-1 (P3). Chlorophyll a concentrations were lower in P1 (0.0197 mg/m-3), and higher in P3 (0.033 mg/m-3). Cherry presented an ultra-oligotrophic level of eutrophication. Correlation analyzes showed a positive correlation between climatic and physicochemical factors on phytoplankton biomass. Measures were suggested to mitigate the damage caused by the deterioration of the Cereja River. Keywords: Hydrological parameters, Eutrophication, Water quality
