Trend of biodiesel feedstock and its impact on biodiesel emission characteristics

Abstract: Feedstock for biodiesel production has changed over time and it varies depending on regions. Reports and journal articles on biodiesel feedstock resources over the last decade from 2006 to 2016 were reviewed in this article. The regional trends still maintain as the USA and the EU still predominantly use soybean oil and rapeseed oil, respectively, and palm oil is the major source of biodiesel in Asia. It is expected that the food‐crop based biodiesel will continue to be dominant for the next decade. However, i… Show more

“…The production of vegetable oil is seasonal and as biodiesel production must be conducted in the same area as it will be consumed, associated with biodiesel degradation and stimulation of local production, it is important that all available oils are utilized . Despite the interest in the search for new feedstock for oils to be used in the production of biodiesel, few papers have been published concerning likely oils to use, although it is possible the biodiesel industry may receive new oil mixtures for production purposes …”

“…Public health, environment, resource scarcity, climate change, public awareness and participation have acted as solid waste management drivers towards the current integrated waste management paradigm in the industrialized world. All these ends involve in-depth knowledge of the existing system to provide reliable information that can lead us to arrive at conclusions on how environmental hazards can be minimized and resources capitalized [7][8][9][10][11].…”
