TREATMENT OF VIBRIOSIS DISEASE (Vibrio harveyi) IN VANAME SHRIMP (Litopenaeus vannamei, Boone 1931) USING Avicennia alba LEAVES EXTRACT

Abstract: Avicennia alba is a mangrove plant that often ued by coastal society as a traditional medecine, it is potential to be dveloped as the sources of pharmaceutical. The aim of the research is to examine the effect of Avicennia alba leaves extract various concentrations to Vibrio harveyi infection on vaname shrimp. The addition of the extract is thought to be used as an antibacterial so that it can give effect to the attack of V. harveyi in vaname shrimp. Vaname shrimps (total of 120 shrimps) with a weight of 10±2g… Show more

“…Based on the clinical signs that appear, the incidence of shrimp death is associated with the presence of white feaces disease (WFD) infection, which is related to the condition of rearing water quality. WFD spreads rapidly through the water, especially in ponds with high stocking densities, so rapid treatment is necessary [9]. Optimal pond water quality will provide living space for shrimp so that they can maximum growth.…”

“…A completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications were conducted with different white mangrove powder concentrations as follows. Treatment A = No addition of Avicennia marina leaf extract to the feed (control) Treatment B = Adding Avicennia marina leaf extract of 125 ppm to 500 gram feed Treatment C = Adding Avicennia marina leaf extract of 175 ppm to 500 gram feed Treatment D = Adding Avicennia marina leaf extract of 225 ppm to 500 gram feed Those doses were used based on the recommendation of Rusadi et al,(2019) who found the best outcome from the use of 250 ppm added with mangrove leaf extract on the mortality rate of Vanname shrimp.…”

“…The diluted extract was added to the feed through the Spraying method until it was homogeneous. The feed was then administered to the test shrimp with a volume of 3% of the total biomass of the post larva (Rusadi et al, 2019) in 5 feeding times a day at 07.00, 10.00, 13.00, 16.00, and 21.00 WIB (Mahenda, 2021)…”
