“…The most appropriate treatment should offer the least recurrence and postoperative complication rate with the highest patient satisfaction (13). The type of anesthesia, cost and time to return to daily life are important factors for the ideal PSD treatment (16). In a Cochrane study published in 2011 where pilonidal sinus surgery with primary intent was compared to secondary intention, secondary healing is shown to result in less recurrence than all primary repairs, with the highest recurrence being in the midline repair (primary repair).…”

“…The curettage of the sinus is often done in order to remove granulation tissue (24,31,32). Some authors use a clamp to evacuate the sinus contents, while others clean the sinus with a gauze sponge (11,17,20,22).…”

“…However, there isn't any information about the re-usage of fibrin glue in the patients who failed in these studies. Although similar studies were made for phenol and their success rates were found as 70%, this rate increased to 86.7% in repeating implementations (Kayaalp et al, 2010;Olmez et al, 2013). The high cost of the fibrin glue on phenol is another disadvantage.…”
