“…IPLS, using several cut‐off filters (550‐, 570‐ and 590‐nm), was found both safe and effective for postburn PIH in one study . A newly developed IPLS was used for facial PIH with good results . One clinical trial investigated the addition of IPL to the standard treatment regimen of a modified Kligman formula [5% hydroquinone (HQ), 3% vitamin C, 0.025% tretinoin, 0.01% triamcinolone] for postburn PIH in 14 patients with altogether 53 lesions.…”

“…The pulse-in-pulse mode IPL produces multiple micro-second subpulses and intermittent breaks in a single milli-second pulse. It delivers constant high-fluence energy with an on-time and off-time, which prevents a sudden increase in the skin temperature that is high enough to cause breakdown11.…”

“…PIH is frequently treated with hydroquinone and sun protection; however, the use of IPL in the treatment of PIH is not well established 113 . Park et al 114 studied 25 dark‐skinned patients (Fitzpatrick skin types III–V) with persistent facial PIH caused by various etiologies. The patients were treated with PIP mode IPL for a total of eight sessions over a period of 12 weeks.…”
