Treatment of Furcation Involvement Using Autogenous Tooth Graft With 1‐Year Follow‐Up: A Case Series

Abstract: Introduction The objective of this study was to clinically evaluate an autogenous tooth graft (ATG) as a novel bone graft material in the treatment of Class II furcation defects. ATG is prepared at chairside from a freshly extracted tooth to be used immediately for bone regeneration. It has an advantage over the autogenous and other bone graft materials as it is non‐immunogenic, inexpensive, easily available, and lacks donor‐site morbidity. Case Presentation This study was conducted on three middle‐aged (35 to… Show more

“…The outcomes they obtained were promising, since bone volume changes were significantly lower in the test group than in sites left to heal spontaneously [18]. Similar results were found also in more demanding bone regeneration procedures, such as the treatment of furcation defects [19].…”

“…The release of BMP2 protein was related to human primary osteoblasts migration in a dose-dependent manner, suggesting it might be involved in the chemotactic recruitment of osteoblasts during bone formation in addition to its function as a differentiation enhancer 51) . The BMP2 also was found preserved in mammal teeth, which can be gradually released even long after extraction or post-chemical processing 55,[57][58][59] making a successful clinical outcome for DDM or TDBS as a grafting material 24,33,[60][61][62] . In the present study, BMP2 protein was found in supernatant containing TDBS prepared chairside after decontaminating steps, ensuring that this novel technique of preparing TDBS can preserve substantial proteins in dentin matrix i.e., BMP2, and this protein could also be able released from the matrix without the demineralizing process.…”
