Treatment of contact burn injury with hypericum perforatum: An experimental study

Abstract: Aim: Burns are one of the most difficult physical and psychological traumas that people face. Generally, protection and prevention strategies from burns are practiced. “…H. perforatum L. comprises antiviral phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids, thiophenes, polyphenols, terpenoids, and various phenolic derivatives (Hudson et al, 1991). Hypericin has been proven to be effective in vitro against a wide range of viruses, including the murine cytomegalovirus, influenza virus (Cabbaroğlu et al, 2019), Sendai virus (Damlar et al, 2017), herpes viruses (Cabbaroğlu et al, 2019), and duck hepatitis B virus (Glisic et al, 2008). Although hypericin has in vitro antiviral activity without light activation, this activity is improved by being exposed to sunlight (Cabbaroğlu et al, 2019).…”
