“…In ponies with coxofemoral luxation femoral head resection is considered to cause a reduction in pain (Jogi and Norberg 1962, Platt et al 1990, Malark et al 1992) and this may be the main advantage over conservative treatment, which is generally considered to be unrewarding Amstutz 1974, Bennet et al 1977). This is confirmed by our findings that weight bearing in the pony improved rapidly after surgery.…”
