Background/Aim: Clinical and radiographic sequelae are common following traumatic dental injuries to primary teeth. The aim of this systematic review was to assess the prevalence of such sequelae. Materials and Methods:Searches were conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and BBO/LILACS databases as well as the gray literature. The outcome of interest was the prevalence of the most common sequelae following traumatic dental injuries to anterior primary teeth. Observational studies that evaluated such sequelae were included. Data were extracted, and methodological quality was appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Studies Reporting Prevalence Data. The number of sequelae per tooth and the total number of teeth evaluated in each study were considered to calculate pooled prevalence rates with 95% confidence intervals (CI). The quality of the evidence was determined using the GRADE approach.Results: Twenty-five articles were included in this systematic review and metaanalysis. ÖzSüt dişlenme döneminde meydana gelen travmatik dental yaralanmalar yerlerine gelecek olan daimi dişlerde gelişimsel bozukluklara neden olabilmektedir. Bu durum süt dişi köklerinin apeksi ile bölgede gelişmekte olan daimi diş germi arasındaki yakın anatomik komşuluk ile açıklanmaktadır. Daimi dişlerde meydana gelen gelişimsel bozukluklar süt dişi travmasının tipi ve travma anında çocuğun yaşına bağlı olarak, minenin hafif mineralizasyon bozukluklarından daimi diş germinin sekestrasyonuna kadar değişebilmektedir. Bu nedenle süt dişi travmatik dental yaralanmaları sonrası daimi dişlerde görülebilecek olası gelişimsel bozuklukların etkilerini azaltmak için daimi dişler sürene kadar düzenli olarak klinik ve radyografik kontrollerin yapılması gerekmektedir.

Introduction and aim. Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) in children can have aesthetic, functional, and psychological conse quences. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the epidemiology and patterns of TDIs in a hospital-based population. Material and methods. Patient records from the Department of pediatric and Preventive Dentistry in a dental college and hospital in Kolkata, India, were reviewed. A total of 381 patients, aged 1 to 12 years, who presented one or more traumatized an terior teeth between September 2018 and August 2022, were included. Data on age, sex, mechanism of injury, type of trauma, dentition type, and number of affected teeth were collected. The World Health Organization classification system was used to classify the type of dental trauma. Results. Among the study population, there were 235 males (61.7%) and 146 females (38.3%), with a mean age of 7.67±3.87 years. Falls were the most common cause of trauma (52.2%). The maxillary central incisors were the most frequently affected teeth in both primary and permanent dentitions. Conclusion. Falls were the most common cause of trauma and the maxillary central incisors were the most commonly affected teeth in children.
