“…However, since reporting of CL is not mandatory, information regarding cases of this clinical form is dispersed between databases of different hospitals and a few publications in national and international journals and master/doctoral theses. Most cases described after 2000 are locally acquired and likely caused by L. infantum (even though species identification was seldom reported [7,8]); few cases suggested imported disease by dermotropic species from the New World (including those from the L.
