Objective: To analyze the factors associated with common mental disorders (CMD) in primary care female nursing professionals. Methods: We performed exploratory cross-sectional study, using a structured questionnaire, applied to 451 primary care female nursing professionals from five municipalities of Bahia, Brazil, in a randomly selected sample. The outcome variable (CMD) was evaluated by SRQ-20. To analyze the factors associated with the prevalence of CMD, logistic regression analysis was used in blocks. RESUMOCONTEXTO: O transtorno de ansiedade, acomete cerca de 3,6% da população em algum momento da vida, sendo mais comum em mulheres, incluindo transtornos que compartilham características de medo e ansiedade excessivos e perturbações comportamentais. OBJETIVO: A pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar a presença de ansiedade entre profissionais da Estratégia de Saúde da Família e os fatores associados com a presença da ansiedade. MÉTODOS: Pesquisa de campo, descritiva, exploratória, quantitativa, realizada com 50 trabalhadores de seis unidades de atenção básica em saúde. Para coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário semiestruturado e o uso do Inventário de Ansiedade de Beck. Os dados foram analisados e apresentados por meio do uso da estatística descritiva e por meio da análise de correlação por coeficiente de contingência C. A pesquisa teve aprovação ética com número 515/705. RESULTADOS:O perfil dos profissionais caracterizou-se pelo sexo feminino (94%), casados (54%), com idade média de 39 anos. A ansiedade esteve presente entre 30% dos trabalhadores. Os fatores associados com a ansiedade foram a dificuldade para dormir (C=0,410; p=0,004), pressão no trabalho (C=0.422; p=0,004) e já ter realizado tratamento para ansiedade nos últimos 12 meses (C=0.638; p=0,000). CONCLUSÕES: Verificou-se que os trabalhadores das unidades de saúde participantes, estão expostos a fatores que contribuíram para o surgimento da ansiedade. Esses resultados contribuem para a necessidade de se desenvolver estratégias de prevenção, diagnóstico e tratamento deste transtorno em busca de melhorar a saúde mental destes trabalhadores, contribuindo para um melhor desempenho profissional e êxito em sua vida pessoal e social. BACKGROUND: Anxiety disorder affects about 3.6% of the population at some point in life, being more common in women, including disorders that share characteristics of excessive fear and anxiety and behavioral disorders. AIM: The aim of this research was to evaluate the presence of anxiety among professionals in the Family Health Strategy and the factors associated with the presence of anxiety. METHODS: Field research, descriptive, exploratory, quantitative, performed with 50 workers from six basic health care units. A semi-structured questionnaire and the use of the Beck Anxiety Inventory were used for data collection. The data were analyzed and presented through the use of descriptive statistics and through correlation analysis by contingency coefficient C. The research was ethically approved with number 515/705. RESULTS: The profile of the professionals was characterized by the female gender (94%), married (54%), with a mean age of 39 years. Anxiety was present among 30% of the workers.
