Abstract:Geologic deposits susceptible to ground motion amplification under seismic loading in the New Madrid Seismic Zone are delineated using multiple data sources including in situ measurements, geologic maps, and remote-sensing imagery. Soils are classified on the basis of the recommendations from the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program, which recommends a classification based on the average shear wave velocity of the geologic material in the upper 30 m. Measurements of shear wave velocity were obtained f… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
