Transplacental Passage and Persistence in Serum for 6 9/12 Years of Iophenoxic Acid (Teridax) in a Child

Abstract: Investigation of discordantly high PBI values in a child disclosed the presence of iophenoxic acid (Teridax) in sera of both the patient and her mother. This iodinated compound persisted for 6 8/12 years in the serum of the child; it had passed across the placenta from her mother, who had ingested it for x-ray studies about 21 months before the child's birth.
