Transition metal imide/organic imine metathesis reactions: unexpected observations

Abstract: Fig. 1 Linear plots of [1] t /[1] 0 versus time for the reactions with an excess of PhC(NTol)H 5 in CDCl 3 showing clearly the zero order dependence of rate on [1]. Legend: 5 10 equivalents of 5; :, 16.5 equivalents of 5; -, 20 equivalents of 5.

“…In contrast, their metal imide (MQNR) counterparts have received less attention yet can act as an intermediate in imido group (QNR) transfer reactions. 9 The importance of imido complexes and their isolable analogues is well-established in organic synthesis and catalysis. 10,11 Stoichiometric or catalytic reactions may occur at the MQNR fragment itself, 12 or the imido group may remain a spectator, as in Schrock's group 6 olefin metathesis catalysts 13 and imido-based Ziegler-Natta type olefin polymerisation catalysts.…”

“…Other research in this area has shown that Ti, [80] Re, [81] and Nb [82] complexes also catalyze imine/imine metathesis.Imine/ imine metathesis via carbonyl intermediates [83] and imine/ amine metathesis [84] have also been studied with av iew to applications in dynamic combinatorial chemistry.…”

“…Weitere Forschung in diesem Gebiet ergab,d ass auch Ti-, [80] Rh- [81] und Nb-Komplexe [82] eine Imin/Imin-Metathese katalysieren. Eine Imin/Imin-Metathese über ein Carbonylintermediat [83] sowie eine Imin/Amin-Metathese [84] wurden ebenfalls hinsichtlich ihrer Verwendung in der dynamischkombinatorischen Chemie untersucht.…”
