“…Cutaneous findings of AMKL may therefore represent a reactive process or true leukemia cutis . It is tempting to speculate that our patient's biopsy did not demonstrate atypical cells as a result of a delay between the appearance of clinical lesions and the time of biopsy, as has been reported in cases of TMD , but the biopsy was performed 1 day after an initial CBC with peripheral blood smear showed no blasts. Therefore we favor an alternate explanation that patients with a cutaneous eruption mimicking TMD but who are beyond the expected age for this condition may be presenting with a reactive phenomenon indicative of evolving AMKL.…”

“…In reviewing published lesional histopathology and Tzanck smears, in 5 cases, the authors were able to demonstrate the presence of immature myeloid cells of megakaryoblastic origin (see Table 1, and cases no. 4, 5, 7, 10, and 16), whereas 5 cases, [9][10][11]15 including ours, showed a pustular dermatitis with subcorneal, vesiculopustular, neutrophilic infiltration, and perivascular inflammation in the superficial dermis, with no atypical cells or megakaryoblasts. The timing of biopsy during the evolution of TMD, with the presence Week of resolution is the number of weeks from onset that the vesiculopustular eruptions took to resolve and disappear.…”

“…To our knowledge, 23 cases have been published to date (Table ). The clinical presentation is usually a diffuse eruption of erythematous, crusted papules, papulovesicles, and pustules, often with prominent and initial facial involvement (usually the cheeks) that can be distributed over any part of the body (usually the trunk and limbs) and, in rare cases, palms and soles of feet, perineum, and neck . In 25% of cases, the lesions are described in sites of pressure or trauma.…”

“…Uhara et al 16 reported a male neonate with Down syndrome who had transient myeloproliferative disorder associated with skin lesions. On postnatal day 1, erythema with small papules, vesicles and pustules appeared on entire body.…”
