Transformation of Heavy Metals during Pyrolysis of Predried Dyeing Sludge

Abstract: Heavy metals in sludge may cause serious pollution and restrict the industrial application of sludge heat treatment. In this paper, predried dyeing sludge (PDS) char samples were prepared on a fixed bed in a pure nitrogen atmosphere. X-ray diffractometry, microwave digestion, and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry were used to measure the content, speciation occurrence, and the transformation of heavy metals during heat treatment of PDS samples. The results show that heavy metal elements s… Show more

“…According to the ash melting point test results, the softening temperature (ST) of raw PDS is higher than 1500 C, and deformation temperature (DT) of raw PDS is 1350 C. Table 1 shows the proximate and ultimate analyses of raw PDS, and sulphur analysis in raw PDS is shown in Table 2. [17]…”

“…The operation steps of preparing PDS char samples with fixed bed experimental system were described in our previous research. [17] Before the experiment, the PDS particles were first broken by the crusher, then the PDS with the particle size of 150-200 um were screened. The PDS particles were dried in the drying oven at 105 C for 24 hours and then sealed for preservation.…”
