The aim of this study was to perform a cross-cultural adaption and validation of the Global Pain Scale (GPS) to produce a Spanish-language version (GPS-Sp) and to determine the psychometric properties of this instrument. The GPS was cross-culturally translated into Spanish following the guidelines of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research. The initial study population was composed of 384 patients recruited from February to May 2021. All participants were aged at least 18 years and were currently experiencing pain. All gave signed informed consent to take part and completed the Brief Inventory-Sp and GPS-Spain questionnaires. Cronbach's ɑ and test/retest reliability values were calculated and floor/ceiling effects analyzed. Construct validity was assessed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The 370 patients included in the final analysis presented the following characteristics: 36.2% were male and 63.8% were female; mean age 42.6 (19-88) years; mean body mass index 24.99. Internal consistency was good. The Cronbach's ɑ for GPS-Sp was 0.86 and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.94 (95% CI; 0.87-0.97). Five main explanatory factors were identified by CFA, which produced the following values: RMSEA = 0.057; CFI = 0.807; GFI = 0.809; NFI = 0.763. No floor/ceiling effect was observed. Spoken language acquisition is challenging for very young deaf or hard-of-hearing children (DHH) who wear hearing aids or cochlear implants (CI). Timely decision-making for treatment is essential for these children and requires suitable assessments. Two such assessments are the Categories of Auditory Performance Index II (CAP-II) and the Speech Intelligibility Rating Scale (SIR). These have been shown to be helpful for the ongoing evaluation of developing speech perception and spoken language skills in various languages, but they are not available in Chilean Spanish. This study aimed to create a Chilean Spanish translation of the CAP-II and SIR appropriate for online self-administration by parents-caregivers in Chile to assist professionals in monitoring DHH children’s progress, considering the COVID-19 restrictions. The methods used in the process started with translating a self-report proposal from the original English versions of the CAP-II and SIR scales. Finally, the Chilean Spanish versions were tested in 107 Chilean parents-caregivers of DHH children with CIs. The results suggest these instruments are suitable for use in a Chilean context.

Introduction The Self-reported Foot and Ankle Score (SEFAS) is one of the foot health assessment tools in Sweden. Validation procedures, reliability, validity, sensitivity, approval are essential for the Russian version of the questionnaire with a new language environment.The objective was to validate the Russian version of the SEFAS questionnaire and approve the tool in the Russian surgical patients with foot disorders.Material and methods The questionnaires the patients completed preoperatively included SEFAS, SF‑36, a general health survey questionnaire, and the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS). Patients were requested to complete the SEFAS questionnaire at 2 months of surgery to assess the sensitivity of the instrument. Based on the case histories clinical researcher recorded general and physical parameters of the patients to include gender, age, socio-demographic data, nature of the foot disorder, a dorsiflexion angle of the first metatarsophalangeal joint. To assess the reproducibility of the Russian version of the questionnaire, some patients were requested to complete the SEFAS questionnaire twice preoperatively with an interval of one day.Results The questionnaire was characterized by good internal consistency and reproducibility indicating acceptable reliability of the Russian version of SEFAS. Statistically significant correlations of varying strength were seen between the SF-36 scores and nearly all the selected questions of the SEFAS Russian version. Statistically significant correlations (moderate to weak) were observed between the LEFS total score and the selected SEFAS questions. Minimal clinically significant changes in MCID scored 3 in the assessment of clinical interpretability of the Russian version of SEFAS.Discussion The study demonstrated the reliability, validity and sensitivity of the Russian version of the SEFAS questionnaire. The questionnaire appeared to be an informative and clinically interpretable instrument for assessing foot in surgical adult patients with foot disorders.Conclusion The SEFAS questionnaire can be recommended for Russian trauma and orthopaedic practice to learn the patient's opinion of the condition.
