Transcriptome Sequencing Reveals the Traits of Spermatogenesis and Testicular Development in Large Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys crocea)

Abstract: Larimichthys crocea is an economically important marine fish in China. To date, the molecular mechanisms underlying testicular development and spermatogenesis in L. crocea have not been thoroughly elucidated. In this study, we conducted a comparative transcriptome analysis between testes (TES) and pooled multiple tissues (PMT) (liver, spleen, heart, and kidney) from six male individuals. More than 54 million clean reads were yielded from TES and PMT libraries. After mapping to the draft genome of L. crocea, we… Show more

“…In the present study, the neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction pathway was signi cantly enriched by both the DEGs identi ed in the pituitary gland, testis and external genitalia between NEGG and AEGG groups. Transcriptome studies in poultry [16], goat [28], and yellow croaker sh [29] have also demonstrated the important role of this pathway in the control of reproductive activities. Furthermore, almost all DEGs enriched in this pathway, including KNG1, LPAR2, LPAR3, NPY, AVPR1B, GHSR, GRM3, HTR5A, FSHB, and FSHR, were signi cantly up-or down-regulated in the pituitary gland, testis and external genitalia between NEGG and AEGG groups.…”

“…To generate the clean reads, raw reads were purified by removing ploy-N contained and low-quality reads. Clean reads were mapped to reference bovine genome UMD3.1 [ 27 ].…”

“…For example, Tdrd1 was verified to be germline-enriched and sexual dimorphically expressed in Japanese flounder (Zhao et al 2018). In addition, it was testis-specifically expressed in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) (Luo et al 2019). Tdrd12 was reported to be important in germ-cell development and maintenance in zebrafish (Dai et al 2017).…”
