Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Potential Antioxidant Defense Mechanisms in Antheraea pernyi in Response to Zinc Stress

Abstract: The growth and development of the Chinese oak silkworm, Antheraea pernyi, are strongly influenced by environmental conditions, including heavy metal pollution. An excess of heavy metals causes cellular damage through the production of free radical reactive oxygen species. In this study, transcriptome analysis was performed to investigate global gene expression when A. pernyi was exposed to zinc infection. With RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), a total of 25 795 510 and 38 158 855 clean reads were obtained from zinc-tr… Show more

“…In GO analysis, 31 DEGs were significantly associated with the ‘response to stimulus’, which is related to the response of M. persicae to UV-B stress. Similar results have been reported for response of Glyphodes pyloalis to heat stress and the response of Antheraea pernyi to zinc stress ( Liu et al 2017 , Liu et al 2018 ). In addition, 92 DEGs were associated with ‘membrane’, suggesting that most cells of M. persicae need to be repaired under UV-B stress (Howard et al 2011).…”

“…It is very important to further reveal the gene function through analyzing the pathway of DEGs. The pathways of phagosome (18 DEGs), peroxisome (25 DEGs), and endocytosis (43 DEGs) are associated to antioxidant defense (Liu et al 2018). The phosphatidylinositol signaling system is related to signal transduction.…”
