“…Cytokines are categorized as pro‐inflammatory or anti‐inflammatory and play a key role in the modulation of the intestinal mucosal immune system. Interleukin (IL)‐10 is an anti‐inflammatory cytokine mainly produced by monocyte/macrophages (1,2), and is also known to potently inhibit the capacity of innate immune cells to produce pro‐inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐α(3).
