Train Noise - Comparison of Prediction Methods

Abstract: Railway noise in towns and city centres is one of the environmental problems. Dening the noise level is possible in two ways via in situ measurement or via calculation (prediction). For the comparison of objectively measured values of sound pressure levels from railroads two methods used in the Slovak Republic were chosen Schall 03 and the Czech prediction method. Track number 170: ZvolenVrútky in the town Zvolen was selected as the measurement location of noise exposure. Method Schall 03 overestimates the mea… Show more

“…The very dangerous factors of the working environment and the working process of private forest entrepreneurs are unfavorable microclimates, increased working load, noise and bad lighting [9,10,11]. Inappropriately high work length during the day, insufficient work breaks, inappropriate conditions for a balanced diet coupled with harmful manufacturing factors create fatigue and a considerable vulnerability to worker health damage.…”

“…Measurements in Zvolen (ZV) took place on 3 October 2011 and 24 April 2015. The results of measurements from this measuring point (ZV) were published in the works of Němec et al [ 10 , 30 , 31 ]. The data from these measurements are used in the statistical analysis, therefore the results are repeatedly partially published in this paper.…”

“…The measurement methodology, as well as the calculation of predictions, were performed in the same way as in the published research in the papers Němec et al [ 10 , 31 ]. The literature [ 34 , 35 ] characterize the exact methodological procedure, which was followed in the measurements performed in this research.…”

“…The basic factors determining noise from road traffic include the influence of operation and vehicle construction and factors connected to the environment and its surroundings. The derived factors cover the factors connected to the method of traffic operations [10][11][12][13][14][15][16].…”
