TRAF Family Member-Associated NF-KB Activator (TANK) Gene Polymorphism in Chronic Periodontitis and Peri-implantitis Patients

Abstract: Within the limitations of this study, it seems that these two polymorphisms do not play a significant role in pathogenesis of chronic periodontitis or peri-implantitis among the Iranian population. However, we recommend performing similar studies with larger sample sizes among the Iranian population and other communities.

“…Twenty studies investigated the microbiological profile of dental implants (Table 1) and 19 studies investigated the human immune response (Table 5). Two studies investigate gene polymorphism 20,21 . Among those studies 1 study investigated both microbiological profile and human immune response from same subjects, 22 and 1 study investigated the human immune response and genes polymorphisms in the same subjects 23 …”

“…Of 3 cross‐sectional studies investigating gene polymorphism (Table 7), 20,21,23 2 were conducted in Iranian populations 20,21 and 1 study targeted Brazilian population 23 . These studies investigated polymorphisms in the following genes IL‐1β and IL‐ 6, 23 TANK, 20 and SLC11A1 21 (Tables 7, 8). Collectively, there was no correlation between any gene polymorphisms and the pathogenesis of peri‐implantitis.…”
