Buchanania lanzan Spreng, commonly known strop, char, piyal, achar, charoli, and chironji belong to Anacardiaceae family. It is a priced medicinal plant with a host of medicinal properties, such as anticancer activity, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant activity, anti-diabetic, anti-ulcer activity, anti-diarrheal activity, anti-venom activity, memory booster, anti-hyperlipidemic activity.This tree is characterized by dark grey crocodile bark with a red blaze, Fruit, and a yellowish-red drupe. This plant has high-value Indian folk medicine and socio-economic value. In English this tree commonly known as "Almondette", whole plant i.e., roots, leaves, fruits, seeds and gum used for various medicinal. Various parts are used in ayurvedic medicine as depurative, skin cancer, constipating, brain tonic, cardiotonic and for glandular swelling. This article suggests that Buchanania lanzan possess several ethnobotanical, pharmacological and phytochemical attributes.

Various food crops are produced in India, including cereals, pulses, and oilseeds. The biggest challenge in India since Independence has been supplying enough food for the growing population. Therefore, highyielding varieties are cultivated with irrigation water, fertilizers, or pesticides. Government policy continues to encourage the growth of the agribusiness sector through substantial investment in infrastructure and food processing. Technological advancements and agri-infrastructure upgrading is still a concerning matter to achieve excellent status. With the time high use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides for high production soil fertility is losing as well as the food safety is in the challenging condition. At present scenario, organic farming is the backbone of the great Indian civilization. The Organic Farming is safest way of maintaining the soil fertility and public health, too. As a result, organic farming can provide quality food without adversely affecting the soil health, the environment and without compromising the human health as well. Organic products includes all varieties of food products like tea, fruits, rice, pulses, honey, spices, coffee, oilseeds, cereals, herbal products or it may be cotton, cosmetics, functional foods, body care products, and other similar product. The present review focuses on the organic farming importance and status in India.

Being very close to nature, tribal people extensively use non-cultivated naturally found plants for their alternative source of nutrition. The present study conducted for documenting the available wild edible plants used by tribal people located in the districts of Purulia, West Midnapur and Bankura. Using wild edible plant is economical, nutrient rich and promotes sustainable utilization. The ethnobotanical study surveyed the knowledgeable informants of the tribal population and found 27 plants that are majorly used for alternative source of nutrition. Different parts like leaves, stem, flower, fruit, tuber etc. are used as food sources. Apart from food source, the tribal people also earn their livelihood by selling these plants in the local market. However, the present generation of the tribal population is not very interested in acquiring the knowledge of these non-cultivated plants therefore documentation of the use of these plants becoming very important for future.
