The study evaluated 283 Information Technology professionals of Brazilian technology companies regarding well-being at work. For data collection, the Psychosocial Well-Being Scale and the Maslach Burnout Inventory, associated with the Utrech Work Engagement Scale, were used. In general, positive evaluations for psychosocial well-being and engagement, as well as, lack of characteristics of Burnoutpredominated. The overall average in the Psychosocial Well-Being Scale was 4.93, with a standard deviation of 1.04. Men who work for one to five years presented higher values in the effectiveness dimension. Regarding engagement, the results were significant among men aged 40 and over. Professionals with shorter time of work in the organization presented lower indexes in the effectiveness dimension. These results corroborate the characteristics of Generation Y regarding the greater commitment with the career than with the organization.

A crise pandêmica de 2020, ocasionada pela Covid-19, desencadeou uma série de mudanças às quais convencionou-se denominar de “novo normal”. A área da educação foi particularmente afetada, haja vista que foi uma das primeiras a terem suas atividades presenciais suspensas e reorganizadas para atividades remotas. Desde o início destas atividades, uma série de preocupações têm sido levantadas por entidades de classe, associações científicas e por intelectuais acerca das condições de trabalho em educação sob o novo normal instaurado pela crise pandêmica. Neste artigo, a partir de três estudos publicados sobre o trabalho docente durante a pandemia, procedemos um cotejamento entre os dados e a produção acadêmica nos estudos do trabalho, a fim de evidenciar o que há de novo no trabalho em educação e o que são continuidades de um segmento profissional que gradativamente vem sendo permeado por práticas ubíquas. Entre mudanças e permanências no trabalho em educação, propomos a mobilização do conceito de ubiquidade como categoria explicativa que permita captar as especificidades da docência nestes contextos.

Apart from governments’ increased opportunities to monitor citizens, businesses, civil servants, and services, companies are mobilizing personal data to build profitable, algorithmically based business models with profound ramifications. With companies that have rapidly become giants in this sector, such as Uber, the phenomenon is spreading to various services at the same overwhelming speed as many companies bet on what is known as Uberization. In this paper, we aim to use one example of such a phenomenon from the Global South to show how a potential hyperconnected society is, in fact, creating the possibility for expanded patterns of immobilization for certain groups. We aim to show how highly indirect corporate surveillance involved in businesses such as Uber can run in parallel with a specific direct form of worker surveillance that, without any legal or social safeguards, increases the vulnerability of the weakest link in this chain.
