“…In this sense, the study at hand focuses on the literature gap of the relevance of factors for ISO 9001 implementation in different countries in line with previous research (Allur et al , 2014; Almeida et al , 2018; Downey et al , 2015; Heras-Saizarbitoria and Boiral, 2015; Huo et al , 2014). One of the questions that should be asked is why only a handful of organizations are implementing ISO 9001 standards, even though there is a high potential in TQM implementation, as was concluded in a previous study (Aamer et al , 2017). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide insights into countries that are struggling with the limited implementation of ISO 9001 certifications and understand the reasons behind the limited number of ISO 9001 certifications, more particularly in, and with evidence from, Yemen.…”

“…One of the main factors is the creation of SCA. The literature discussed many factors that could create SCA, such as social and technological change [7], entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation [8], investing in intangible resources and firm capabilities [9], knowledge management practices [10], marketing innovation [11], competitive intelligence [12], and total quality management [13,14]. Although there were many factors that could affect the creation of SCA, HRM was presented as the most prominent HRM strategies are considered as a rationalised effort applied by the organizations to manage the talent pools to achieve the organizational goals.…”

“…Similar recent studies in a least developed country but not in Southern Africa, Yemen, shows that some companies are practising variant levels of some TQM practices especially customer focus. The least practised TQM endeavour was continuous improvement (Aamer et al, 2017). TQM elements imported from elsewhere had been seen to fail if implemented without taking into consideration the local aspects of the setting (Fotopoulos & Psomas, 2010;Psychogios, 2010).…”
