Show more

“…Most acaricides that are used in citrus orchard in Brazil severely affect the stigmaeid populations without causing any significant mortality in N. californicus (Silva andOliveira 2006, 2007;Silva et al 2009Silva et al , 2011Silva et al , 2012. Therefore, in orchards with intensive use of acaricides and insecticides, there is a higher probability of the establishment of N. californicus, due to the reduction of the antagonistic effect caused the stigmaeids and other competitors in the field.…”

“…A population of this predator from a commercial strawberry field in Atibaia, state of São Paulo, was shown to be tolerant or resistant to several pesticides used in citrus orchards in Brazil (Sato et al 2002;Silva andOliveira 2006, 2007;Silva et al 2011Silva et al , 2012. This species is easy reared (McMurtry 1977) and shows good potential for the biological control of several species of pest mites in citrus crop, such as B. phoenicis, Phyllocoptruta oleivora (Ashmead) and Tetranychus mexicanus (McGregor) (Silva 2005).…”
