In the last decades, sustainable development has increasingly gained importance to service industry and the integration between Green, Lean and Six Sigma approaches in service systems is necessary in order to balance the need for operational efficiency with environmental commitment and social fairness. Because of that, the purpose of this paper is to critically review the Lean and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies and highlight their importance to achieve sustainable services. To do this, a systematic literature review of the subjects under investigation was conducted. The study has two major contributions. First, it is one of the first researches that examine the compatibility and divergences of Green, Lean and Six Sigma concepts and implications regarding its sustainable implementation in service industry. Second, it provides a holistic Green LSS framework attempting to help practitioners to find ways of institutionalizing it in numerous kinds of services, by pointing out nine critical factors for its implementation, such as continuous customer satisfaction, ethical relations and regulatory compliance, focus on knowledge management and human behaviors, and effective Jidoka automation. The proposed framework indicates new paradigms and pathways to achieve the balance in technical, economic, social and environmental priorities in services.

Impact of Sustainability Balanced Scorecard Types on Environmental Investment Decision-Making

Investment decision-making based on aspects of sustainability is gaining importance among organizations around the globe. In this context, there is a need for quality investment decisions, which require sufficient knowledge among organizational managers about managing sustainability information to achieve environmental objectives that meet stakeholder expectations. This has led to the emergence of organizational performance measuring tools such as the Sustainability Balanced Scorecard, which integrates the environmental perspective into the traditional Balanced Scorecard. Using experimental research method, the objective of this study is to investigate the indirect effect of Eco-efficiency knowledge and Sustainability Balanced Scorecard knowledge as mediators influencing the relationship between Sustainability Balanced Scorecard types and their impact on environmental investment decision-making. Findings of the current research are based on 60 respondents who were randomly assigned to one of the following two types of Sustainability Balanced Scorecard architecture: (1) environmental data embedded within the traditional Balanced Scorecard perspectives; and (2) standalone environmental data as an additional fifth perspective along with the traditional Balanced Scorecard architecture. The traditional Balanced Scorecard without any information on environmental perspective is included in the experiment as the control condition. The findings indicate that the combined effect of eco-efficiency knowledge and Sustainability Balanced Scorecard knowledge has a significant positive influence on the relationship between the Balanced Scorecard type versus Sustainability Balanced Scorecard type and environmental investment decision-making.

RESUMOÉ crescente a busca por alterna vas de transporte mais sustentáveis, com uso de menos recursos e que causem menos impactos ao meio ambiente. Esta pesquisa busca avaliar a ecoeficiência de veículos leves para transporte de cargas, através de métodos de apoio à decisão, para orientar a escolha da alterna va com melhor desempenho econômico e ambiental. A avaliação de desempenho destes veículos foi desenvolvida com a u lização de um modelo híbrido composto de duas técnicas de apoio mul critério à decisão conhecidas: AHP e TOPSIS, para a classificação das alterna vas. O modelo AHP-TOPSIS foi considerado robusto e bastante adequado para resolver esse po de problema. Os resultados desta pesquisa ajudam a iden ficar o nível de desempenho dos veículos e elaborar um ranking com base na ecoeficiência, o que ajudará a orientar o julgamento dos decisores no momento da escolha do veículo. This research aims to evaluate the ecoefficiency of light vehicles for cargo transporta on, through decision support methods, to guide the choice of the alterna ve with beEer economic and environmental performance. The performance evalua on of these vehicles was developed using a hybrid model composed of two known mul criteria decision techniques to classify the alterna ves: AHP and TOPSIS. This model was considered robust and quite adequate to solve this type of problem. The results of this ar cle aim to iden fy the performance level of the vehicles and to elaborate a ranking based on ecoefficiency, which will help to guide the judgment of the decision makers in the choice of the vehicle.
