Recently, with the different issues encountered in road mobility, the presence and development of the Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) have become a necessity. VANETs have various positive impacts on vehicular safety, road security, traffic management, drivers' comfort, and passengers' convenience. However, the expansion in the world's population has led to enormous traffic congestion on multiple roads. This congestion results in uncontrollable delays affecting economics, society and the environment. In this paper, we propose two routing protocols that depend on the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR), differing from existing ones by introducing a new metric to select the best route from a source to a destination. In the first protocol, we choose the best route based on the maximum level of SIR at each node. Besides, we select the Backup SIR to minimize the number of SIR calculations at the channel update process. While in the second protocol, we design a hybrid Markov chain model composed of two Markov models; the first one aims at predicting the SIR value of the next round, while the second one is an analytical model that targets managing the number of channel update process. In order to validate our solution, extensive simulations are realized in considering the real scenario of the city of Beirut (Lebanon). The results show that our proposed protocols perform better with regard to overhead, packet delivery ratio, throughput and end‐to‐end delay.

MANET network is a type of decentralized network and is high vulnerable network which requires secure communication.A significant security issue in manet is to protect the network layer from malicious nodes that misbhaves often to obtain the data that is not broadcasted for them i.e gray hole attacks aka selective forwarding attack that leads to denial of service attack(DoS) .In this paper The overall objective is to find the nodes which frequently misbehaves and based upon their miss ratio they will be eliminated from the network. The proposed strategy does not allow unauthorized nodes to access the data frames multicast by the initiators. The proposed strategy is designed and implemented in MATLAB using mathematics toolbox. The experimental results have shown significant improvement in detecting the malicious nodes. General TermsAttacks in MANET.

Mobile ad hoc network security is a new area for research that it has been faced many difficulties to implement. These difficulties are due to the absence of central authentication server, the dynamically movement of the nodes (mobility), limited capacity of the wireless medium and the various types of vulnerability attacks. All these factor combine to make mobile ad hoc a great challenge to the researcher. Mobile ad hoc has been used in different applications networks range from military operations and emergency disaster relief to community networking and interaction among meeting attendees or students during a lecture. In these and other ad hoc networking applications, security in the routing protocol is necessary to protect against malicious attacks as well as in data transmission. The goal of mobile ad hoc security is to safeguard the nodes' operation and ensure the availability of communication in spite of adversary nodes. The node operations can be divided into two phases. The first phase is to discover the route (s) path. The second phase is to forward the data on the available discovered routes. Both stages need to protect from attacks; so many protocols have been proposed to secure the routing and data forwarding. This is a review study to mobile ad hoc protocols for securing routing as well as protocols for securing packets forwarding. Furthermore, it will present the characteristics and the limitations for each protocol and attributes.
