Towards Evaluating Proactive and Reactive Approaches on Reorganizing Human Resources in IoT-Based Smart Hospitals

Abstract: Hospitals play an important role on ensuring a proper treatment of human health. One of the problems to be faced is the increasingly overcrowded patients care queues, who end up waiting for longer times without proper treatment to their health problems. The allocation of health professionals in hospital environments is not able to adapt to the demands of patients. There are times when underused rooms have idle professionals, and overused rooms have fewer professionals than necessary. Previous works have not so… Show more

“…Avatars and virtual twin cities created by 3D modeling are digital replicas of real‐world entities. Real‐world data collected from real‐world entities via IoT devices and sensors play a vital role in synchronizing the two worlds 24 . In the real world, many studies have been conducted in which people's instant metabolism values were monitored by using IoT devices and sensors 25,26 …”

“…Elasticity of computing resources already exists in cloud environments and affects resources such as computing power, storage capacity and bandwidth. Several authors extend this concept to HR with the introduction of algorithms that allow the virtualization of these resources and afford their elasticity (Tai, 2012;Fischer et al, 2019Fischer et al, , 2020. These advances open the door to people on specific cloud platforms being used for different activities that require the allocation of human resources for specific needs, such as humanitarian disasters (earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, etc.)…”

“…These advances open the door to people on specific cloud platforms being used for different activities that require the allocation of human resources for specific needs, such as humanitarian disasters (earthquakes, fires, tsunamis, etc.) (Tai, 2012), hospitals (Fischer et al, 2019(Fischer et al, , 2020, law enforcement, among many others. Thus, for example, the virtualization of patients and doctors in hospitals using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology enables the implementation of cloud infrastructures with algorithms that meet the demand for medical care at any given time (Fischer et al, 2019(Fischer et al, , 2020.…”
