Maturity of CSR Implementation at the Organizational Level—From Literature Review to a Comprehensive Model

This paper fills the gap in the studies addressing the problem of corporate social responsibility (CSR) concept implementation maturity in an organization approached holistically. It is based on an integrative literature review covering 104 publications indexed in WoS and Scopus. The literature review shows that the maturity of the implementation of CSR at the organizational level is rarely the subject of assessment. The authors dealing with CSR maturity focus their deliberations on such specific areas of enterprise functioning as IT, operational management, supply management, product design and project management. Other authors place CSR among different areas that should be taken into account while determining the maturity of implementation of Industry 4.0 or organizational reputation management. The most commonly used measurement is the five-point scale of the levels typical for CMMI. The theoretical models presented in the source literature are rarely subject to empirical operationalization. This study offers a four-dimensional CSR maturity model that can be used to assess the maturity level of the CSR concept implementation in different types of organizations and also to analyze and compare the maturity levels of different organizations. The dimensions are areas, stakeholders, actions and participation. There are five levels of CSR maturity and only the achievement of the fifth levels in all four dimensions proves the highest level of CSR. The usefulness of the model was determined by eight experts (practitioners working in different organizations) with the use of the “sum-score decision rule”. Both practical and theoretical implications result from this model.

L’évolution des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication (TIC) est étroitement liée, d’un côté à leurs usages et leurs appropriations par les acteurs humains, d’un autre côté au périmètre fonctionnel qu’elles couvrent et à la performance technique qu’elles réalisent au sein des organisations. Mais cette vision tridimensionnelle est relativement récente. Elle est le fruit de recherches ayant mis en relief le surdimensionnement de la dimension technologique au détriment des deux autres : humaine et fonctionnelle. Notre article présente l’évolution des TIC à travers une approche tridimensionnelle en essayant d’expliciter les paradigmes ayant servi à construire cette démarche. Tout en appréhendant les apports de l’évolution des TIC sous plusieurs angles, nous relevons l’importance de nouveaux questionnements tels que la dimension « verte » des TIC.

A Systematic Literature Review of the Factors of Influence on the Environmental Impact of ICT

Context: Many publications have described, measured, tracked or assessed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) activities that impact the environment. A complete conceptual view of the environmental impact of ICT can be described in three orders of effect: Direct, indirect and systemic. Objective: The goal of this study is to find out how the existing literature contributes towards our understanding of the environmental impact of ICT. We approach this question by identifying factors that can be of influence on the environmental impact and map these factors onto a conceptual framework of Green ICT. Method: We used a systematic literature review to collect factors of influence regarding the environmental impact of ICT. Results: From the data we collected and the analyses made, we created a taxonomy, and report on the frequencies of the factors of influence in the primary studies as well as gaps and additions compared to the conceptual framework. We found five main classes of influence that can form a continuous cycle, but noted that the research field is strongly focused on the direct impact of ICT. Conclusion: Our study contributes towards a better understanding of the environmental impact of ICT by framing factors of influence in a conceptual framework. The taxonomy we create and the analysis of the studies could be helpful in defining a research agenda, to further enable the full potential of Green ICT. In addition, the taxonomy can be used as a starting point for a practical tool, for organizations that wish to apply Green ICT to its full extent.
