Health and social services (HSS) are now, more than ever, at the center of the debate of public policy. We are interested in studying the HSS services innovations from the networked-governance strategy standpoint. With this research, we contribute by analyzing the criteria leading to the formation of HSS public service innovation networks (HSS PSINs). These criteria are important because they may result in the much-needed empirical foundation of the metagovernance of public networks for sustainable innovation. Our analysis rests on neo-Schumpeterian interpretations of product, process, organizational, market, and input innovations, and their characteristics. By an empirical partial least squares structural equations model, we present here the relationships between those characteristics and HSS PSINs. Our intent is that these relationships become clearer, and help enhance HSS PSINs metagovernance—i.e., their control, democratic legitimacy, and accountability by public decision-makers. Hence, our research supports the voices for an extended use of networks for policy and service collaborative innovation for sustainability.

El concepto de “servitización”, como tal, aparece en 1988 con la publicación del artículo de Vandermerwe y Rada (1988) y designa la táctica de añadir o integrar servicios a ofertas preexistentes para transformarlas en ofertas híbridas (del tipo PSS). La servitización se ha popularizado en tanto que herramienta de innovación del modelo de negocio y así se aplica en organizaciones de todos los tamaños y tipos, con resultados irregulares. Hoy, esta idea está bajo un severo escrutinio por la marcha atrás de varios de sus proponentes que habrían emprendido procesos de dilución, o eliminación, de la oferta de servicios que previamente habían integrado.Lejos de considerarlo como una mera táctica de diversificación la oferta, propongo en este texto una consideración integral de la servitización que abarque desde la organización interna de la empresa hasta la concepción del ecosistema en el que se inserta, pasando por la servitización de los propios servicios, y que de verdad permita pasar de un modelo de negocio transaccional a uno relacional. La herramienta que contemplo como más adecuada para esta transformación de la empresa es el diseño de servicios, entendiendo que es la disciplina que mejor garantiza una adaptación sistémica a las nuevas y cambiantes condiciones del entorno socioeconómico. Ni que decir tiene que esta propuesta conceptual requeriría una posterior investigación aplicada a casos concretos para ser validada y mejorada, y que mi ánimo es simplemente el de contribuir a la discusión aportando, a falta de un mayor rigor académico, una perspectiva personal fruto de una larga trayectoria en este campo de estudio.

Digital technologies constitute a critical enabler for attaining a net zero target. However, how digital infrastructure, the material infrastructure that underpins digital technologies, shapes firms' green innovation remains uncertain. The uniqueness of this analysis lies in evaluating the causal implications of the Broadband China policy on corporate green innovation using a staggered difference‐in‐differences technique. Our study indicates that the Broadband China policy robustly boosts corporate green innovation. However, treatment impacts vary across calendar times, entry cohorts, and exposure durations, with most estimates exhibiting powerful and positive effects. Further analysis indicates that the Broadband China policy boosts green innovation indirectly through financialization by increasing corporate operating income and total asset turnover while minimizing management operating costs. The findings endorse that the corporate green innovation process requires more long‐term, stable, and continuous financial support due to its high information asymmetry, high‐risk nature, and long‐term investment cycle.
