Towards a full two dimensional gas turbine performance simulator

Abstract: paper for one flight Mach number and angle of attack setting. More importantly, this research effort established the necessary methodology and technology required towards a full, two-dimensional engine cycle analysis at an affordable computational resource in the very short term. “…The predicted change in maximum engine pressure is around 0.5% upwards. The overall pressure ratio produced solely by the compressors, however, is reduced by approximately a) 18 19 20 Longitude ( 2.1%, leading to a corresponding decrease in compressor work. It is noted that ram temperature rise may increase the compressor work for a given pressure ratio.…”

“…Turbomatch is based on zero-dimensional aerothermodynamic analysis employing discrete component maps. been previously deployed in several studies available in the literature for the prediction of design and off-design performance of gas turbine engines [17,18]. For the scope of the present analysis, the engine is assumed to be operating exclusively at steady-state off-design conditions.…”

“…11) conducted by the U.S. Army in 1965 is a remarkable achievement in showcasing the regenerative technology potential. The program successfully completed a 50-h flight test in a Light Observation YOH-6A helicopter employing a "bolted-on-type" regenerative engine, which resulted in increasing the helicopter's maximum specific range by 25 The most fundamental advantage offered by the regenerative engine due to its distinct thermodynamic cycle is the reduction in fuel burn, achieved through regeneration of exhaust heat. This advantage is rather significant in the current era, considering the concerns for high fuel prices (Ref.…”

“…TURBOMATCH has previously been utilized in several studies available in the literature for the prediction of design point and off-design performance of gas turbine engines (Refs. 24,25). To comply with the scope of the work presented in this paper, the engine is assumed to be operating at steady-state off-design conditions throughout the entire mission profile.…”

“…However, the advanced military strike fighter has super maneuverable ability, which means that aero propulsion must work in a wide range of flight altitudes, Mach numbers and flight attack angles. [8][9][10] The uncertainties of aero propulsion working conditions always requires the supersonic inlet to depart from the best working state to subcritical working state or supercritical working state. Moreover, the departure can cause the inlet, or even the fan and compressor, to enter surge condition.…”
