Toward Improvement of Resistance Testing Reliability

Abstract: . Periodically conducting a benchmark test with estimated uncertainty is important to improve the quality of resistance predictions and understand the influence of instrumentation, testing procedures and analysis techniques. The LHI-007 Ro-Ro Ferry ship model, made available by the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN), was used for benchmark testing from 2010 to 2018 at the Indonesian Hydrodynamic Laboratory. Comparisons were made between filtering the resistance data with a low-pass filter and with… Show more

“…The quality plays a direct proportional for the quality of the analysis, furthermore, the solver will be more robust and efficient when using a well-constructed mesh. The coefficient total resistance using fine mesh of the benchmark model was calculated for four different values of speed in the range and the obtained results are compared with the experimental results [9]. For the highest speed 2.47 m/s, the coefficient total resistance has a significantly difference, in other hand, another speed has smallest difference.…”

“…The calm water resistance tests for routine tests and IHL database of the repeatability have been periodically. Table 2 shows the water temperature for the first test in 1994 and during 2010-2018 presented in [9] and continued until 2020, it is to be noted that experimental results are given diagrammatically for wide range of temperature. Temperature 27 (2010) and 28(2018) at four speed (1.63 m/s, 1.81 m/s, 2.25 m/s, 2.47 m/s) were chosen with concern to employ of data for CFD validation.…”

“…The statistical analysis that followed quantifies values with mean differences from the single to the repeated mean experimental test instance, which had a standard deviation of 0.13%. The case study model was examined at Fr = 0.701 and found to be an acceptable result (Utama et al, 2021b).…”
