One of the problematic factors in the cultivation of vannamei shrimp is the outbreak of bacteria and viruses. One way to prevent infection is by strengthening the shrimp’s immune system. MOTIVTM is a fermented corn protein concentrate that has been reported to possess probiotic properties that can positively increase the disease resistance of shrimp. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effect of bioactive protein (MOTIVTM) on the total hemocyte count and shrimp survival rate. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications: A (commercial feed), B (7.5% MOTIV add of 1.5% krill meal instead of 9% fish meal), C (7.5% MOTIVTM add of 1% krill meal to replaces of 2% poultry meal and 6.5% fish meal), D (7.5% MOTIVTM to replaces of 3.5% poultry meal and 4% fish meal), and E (7.5% MOTIVTM to replaces of 7.5% poultry flour). Feeding was done four times/day based on shrimp biomass and weekly feed counts based on daily shrimp survival. The vannamei shrimp used was one gram with a population density of 15 shrimps/aquarium with an aquarium volume of 100 liters.Total shrimp hemocytes, survival, and water quality were all measured. Treatment C had the highest total hemocyte, averaging 4.1 x 107 cells/mL, whereas treatment B had the lowest, averaging 1.4 x 107 cells/mL. During the trial, only treatment C supported 100% survival.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the optimal dose of Purik leaf extract (Mitragyna speciosa) which has antibacterial compounds to treat vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) that infected by Vibrio parahaemolyticus. The method used in this research is experimental study with Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The results form GC-MS analysis of purik leaf extract showed that the most abundance compounds were Quinic acid and Mitragynine from flavonoid and alkaloid class. Total Hemocytes Count (THC) after purik leaf treatment on vibrio infected vannamei shrimp showed that extract at 250 mg/L dose showed the best result with 8.03x106 cells/ml. The Differential Haemocyte Count (DHC) after treatment showed that the most effective dose is 250 mg/L with 20.33% hyaline, 23.67% semigranular cells, and 56% granular cells. Based on histopatology observation of vannamei hepatopancreas after treatment showed that the best dose is 250 mg/L with 1.20% haemorrhage, 1.20% necrosis, and 1.40% cell inflammation. Purik leaf extract which contains many compounds can be useful as an antibacterial to inhibit and destroy V. parahaemolyticus bacteria and proven to treat vannamei shrimp (L. Vannamei) that infected by V. parahaemolyticus

Permasalahan utama dalam budidaya udang vaname adalah serangan penyakit yang menyebabkan pertumbuhan udang menjadi kurang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh ekstrak daun petai cina (L. leucocephala) terhadap performa udang vaname (L. vannamei). Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 60 hari menggunakan udang vaname berukuran PL-20. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan yaitu, P1: tanpa penambahan ekstrak daun petai cina (kontrol), P2: ekstrak daun petai cina 1% v/w , P3: ekstrak daun petai cina 2% v/w dan P4: ekstrak daun petai cina 3% v/w.. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun petai cina dengan dosis yang berbeda pada pakan udang vaname memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan nilai FCR udang vaname, tetapi tidak mempengaruhi tingkat kelangsungan hidup (SR) udang vaname. Diduga bahwa ekstrak daun petai cina mengandung senyawa glycerin, erythritol dan inositol. Penambahan ekstrak daun petai cina sampai dengan dosis 2% v/w dapat memberikan peningkatan bobot mutlak 3,70 g, panjang mutlak 6,13 cm, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (SGR) 5,7 g/hari dan rasio konversi pakan (FCR) 0,9. Oleh karena itu ekstrak daun petai cina mempunyai potensi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai feed additive non nutritif pada budidaya udang vaname..
