“…The current available literature examining the long-term safety profile of AFGs in breast cancer reconstruction has largely focused on cohorts from women who underwent mastectomies or (small cohorts of combined mastectomy and BCT patients) with AFG as an adjunct procedure. The largest of these studies have shown AGF to be safe and did not demonstrate any increased rate of cancer recurrence in these cohorts 31–34 . Given that BCTs and mastectomies have similar recurrence rates and overall outcomes (in appropriately selected patients) after adjusting or potential confounders, it can be hypothesized that when used in patients undergoing BCT, adjunct treatment with AFG would have a similar long-term safety profile as well 35–38 .…”

“…The largest of these studies have shown AGF to be safe and did not demonstrate any increased rate of cancer recurrence in these cohorts. [31][32][33][34] Given that BCTs and mastectomies have similar recurrence rates and overall outcomes (in appropriately selected patients) after adjusting or potential confounders, it can be hypothesized that when used in patients undergoing BCT, adjunct treatment with AFG would have a similar long-term safety profile as well. [35][36][37][38] However, despite these assumptions, there is no definitive literature to support this point.…”

“…In the present meta-analysis, there was no significant difference in distant metastasis between the AFT group and non-AFT group. Similarly, another study showed no remote metastasis was documented during the followup period (40). Only 6 studies included total deaths, and no prominent findings were found concerning the rate of distant metastasis because there was no significant difference between the 2 groups.…”

“…Alharbi et al demonstrated significantly higher viability and migration of ADSCs collected by microfat techniques 23 . Harvesting fat with a cannula with 0.3‐ and 0.5‐mm‐diameter side holes is time‐consuming, and the adipocytes are severely damaged as demonstrated by the proportion of oil in the top layer 24 . A recent innovation consists in the intraoperative mechanical fragmentation of adipose tissue, a process that does not significantly affect stromal cells viability but impacts on adipocytes integrity 20,25,26 .…”
