“…The use of cellulose rather than glass filters enables a determination of the important silicate component of TSP so that a successful mass balance became possible. As described in a previous paper, 1 the silicate and chloride constituents were determined, and a first approximation to a total anthropogenic suspended particulate (TASP) value was then derived by excluding these components from the original TSP value. These TASP values showed a geographic distribution in much closer conformity to visibility reduction and citizen complaint than did the TSP values.…”
