Topological strings on elliptic fibrations

Abstract: We study topological string theory on elliptically fibered Calabi-Yau manifolds using mirror symmetry. We compute higher genus topological string amplitudes and express these in terms of polynomials of functions constructed from the special geometry of the deformation spaces. The polynomials are fixed by the holomorphic anomaly equations supplemented by the expected behavior at special loci in moduli space. We further expand the amplitudes in the base moduli of the elliptic fibration and find that the fiber mo… Show more

“…(1.2) From this action they were able to deduce that the Yukawa-coupling C τ τ τ is in the limit Imt → ∞ proportional to the Eisenstein series E 4 (τ ). In subsequent works the understanding of the modular properties of the topological string partition function on non-compact [16,17] and compact elliptic fibrations has been significantly improved upon [18,19]. Most importantly it was found that the modular structure extends to arbitary base degree and that the holomorphic anomaly equations found by [20] imply a "modular recursion" in terms of the base degree and the worldsheet genus.…”

“…A general classification of toric and nontoric base manifolds in Ftheory models was discussed in [24,25] and, more recently, in [26]. For general properties of topological strings on elliptic Calabi-Yau threefolds, see [27][28][29].…”
