Sound velocity, densities of binary mixture of Tetrahydropyran (THP) with 1-hexanol has been measured over the entire range of composition at T = 298.15 to 318.15 K. The excess parameters viz., excess sound velocity, deviations in isentropic compressibility, excess molar volume, excess free length and excess acoustic impedance are deduced from experimental values and discussed intermolecular interactions present in the mixture. At the end all the parameters have been fitted to Redlich-Kister equation and their coefficients are obtained.

Our research group is carrying out a research project on thermodynamic and topological characterization of multicomponent mixtures containing cyclic ether as an oxygenated additive − with organic solvent with the purpose of providing thermodynamic data and testing of thermodynamic models for the solutions. A literature survey showed that no data on thermodynamic properties for the mixtures of o -chlorotoluene (1) + 1,3-dioxolane or 1,4-dioxane or tetrahydropyran (2) were reported.…”

The densities, ρ, speeds of sound, u, and excess heat capacities, C P E data of binary mixtures formed by o-chlorotoluene with 1,3-dioxolane or 1,4-dioxane or tetrahydropyran at (298.15, 303.15, and 308.15) K and excess molar enthalpies, H E , of the same mixtures at 308.15 K have been measured over the entire composition range at atmospheric pressure. The excess molar volumes, V E , and excess molar isentropic compressibilities, κ S E , data have been calculated from experimental densities and speeds of sound data. The V E , κ S E , and H E values for o-chlorotoluene (1) + 1,3-dioxolane or 1,4-dioxane (2) mixtures are positive, and those for o-chlorotoluene (1) + tetrahydropyran (2) mixture are negative over whole range of composition. However, C P E values for the studied mixtures are positive over the entire range of composition. The V E , κ S E , H E , and C P E data have been estimated in terms of graph and Prigogine−Flory−Patterson (except C P E data) theories. The results indicate that V E , κ S E , H E , and C P E values estimated via graph theory are in agreement with experimental values.

Excess Heat Capacities for Lactam + Chlorotoluene Binary Mixtures

The excess heat capacities, C P E of 1-methylpyrrolidin-2-one (1) + o-, m-, or p-chlorotoluene (2) and pyrrolidin-2-one (1) + o-, m-, or p-chlorotoluene (2) binary mixtures have been measured as a function of composition at (293.15, 298.15, and 303.15) K using microdifferential scanning calorimetry. The C P E data have been fitted to Redlich−Kister equation to calculate binary adjustable parameters and standard deviations. The measured properties of the studied mixtures have been analyzed in terms of Graph theory (which deals with the topology of the constituent of mixtures). It has been observed that Graph theory describes well the C P E data of the investigated binary mixtures.
