“…Based on the measurement of the maximum wavelength based on the percent reflectance using UV-Vis DRS, the band gap value determines the optical characteristics of the produced TiO 2 . Determination of the TiO 2 band gap is carried out indirectly using the Kubelka-Munk equation as follows (Zulfikar et al 2020):…”

“…One approach to enable the effective operation of TiO 2 in the visible light spectrum involves the incorporation of dopants like ZnO and SiO 2 , forming a TiO 2 /ZnO/SiO 2 composite (Alshoaibi & Islam 2021). ZnO offers greater electron mobility and a prolonged lifetime for photogenerated electrons through the formation of heterojunctions, therefore TiO 2 /ZnO/SiO 2 composites can effectively work in the visible light area (Zulfikar et al 2020). Meanwhile, the addition of SiO 2 is intended to facilitate the formation of Ti-O-Si bonds, inhibiting the transformation of anatase into rutile, enhancing mechanical strength in TiO 2 thin films, and increasing the surface area of TiO 2 material and thereby enhancing photocatalytic activity efficiency (Wang et al 2021).…”

“…Removal of organic matter by photocatalysis with TiO2 or ZnO has been carried out for more than two decades. Some studies combined semiconductors for the photodegradation of synthesized humic acids (Wang et al, 2013;Zulfikar et al, 2020;Turkten and Bekbölet, 2020) or dissolved organic matter (Li et al, 2022) under solar irradiation or artificial light. Bah et al (2023) found that there are few studies on photocatalysis with sunlight as the irradiation source.…”
