Tinjauan Historis Teknologi Varietas Unggul Dan Program Intensifikasi Dalam Peningkatan Produktivitas Padi Berkelanjutan

Abstract: <p class="A04-abstrak2">The Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD) has created various technology packages, significantly superior rice varieties with high yields and resistance to various pests and diseases. Since 1943 hundreds of superior varieties of rice have been released. However, domestic rice production has yet to be able to meet the national rice needs. One of the main problems is the decrease in fertile land due to continuous land conversion. Hence, the mainstay in … Show more

“…In Indonesia, the development of superior rice varieties through cross-breeding began in the 1900s using germplasm originating from various sources. Until 1965, rice breeding was directed at establishing varieties suitable for multiple land conditions, including land with medium and low fertility levels [97]. The most significant increase in production occurred from the 1970s to the 1980s with the introduction of new high-yielding varieties that were more responsive to fertilizers and matured early, for example, IR36, Cisadane, IR64, and IR66, with a growth rate of 3.3% each year [98].…”

“…New high-yielding varieties (VUB) are the main technological component in increasing plant productivity [20]. And that the introduction of high-yielding high-yielding varieties began already before the era of the green revolution [21]. Likewise for the use of new high-yielding varieties in corn, where the advantages of corn VUB will be felt by producers and consumers when quality seeds from these high-yielding varieties are available and widely grown.…”

“…Salah satu komponen teknologi yang penting dalam budidaya padi adalah penggunaan benih varietas unggul baru. Selama ini, petani pada sentra produksi padi di Indonesia masih umum menggunakan varietas unggul yang telah lama dilepas seperti IR64 dan Ciherang (Swastika et al, 2021).…”
