Time dependent measurements of induced fission for SNM interrogation

Abstract: Gammas from induced fissions were measured and separated into prompt and delayed particles. To this end, a dedicated detector was realized, based on a plastic scintillator, a wavelength shifter fiber and a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM). Results are presented from the interrogation of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM), employing a pulsed neutron generator in the PUNITA graphite moderator incorporating the above detector assembly. The detector response is presented, as well as the sensitivities for prompt and del… Show more

“…SiPM sensors are now used in a variety of applications including Medical Imaging [3]- [7] , Hazard and Threat Detection [8]- [10] , 3D ranging or Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and Biophotonics [11]- [13] . These applications require a device that designed for mass production, with high performance and reliability.…”
