Thyroxine Content in the Thyroid Gland of Domestic Animals

Abstract: Summary The level of thyroid hormones in the thyroid glands of Egyptian buffaloes at various reproductive stages was determined by a radioactive technique. The results indicate no significant difference between the various stages of pregnancy. In inactive ovaries the ratio of iodothyronins to iodotyrosines is high. In pregnancy the middle stage shows a higher ratio of iodotyrosine to iodothyronine but this is not significant due to the small number of animals used.
