Three‐solvent extracting method comprehensively evaluates phenolics profile and antioxidant activities of Tartary buckwheat

Abstract: A three‐solvent extracting method, which consist of 80% acetone, ethyl acetate, and 70% ethanol extracting procedures, was adopted to evaluate phenolics profile and antioxidant activities of Tartary buckwheat. Phenolics profile of Tartary buckwheat was determined using HPLC. Gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, and 2,3,4‐trihydroxybenzoic acid were detected in 80% acetone extracts, 2,3,4‐trihydroxybenzoic acid was detected in ethyl acetate extracts, rutin and quercetin were detected in 70% ethanol extracts, rutin wa… Show more

“…In the study, acetone and methanol are aqueous moderate polarity solvents, and more efficient than less polar solvents for extraction of bioactive constituents because most of the biochemical constituents are easily dissolved in solvents or water (Bahukhandi et al., 2020). Likewise, a few studies indicated that moderate polarity solvents have the capabilities to induce partial hydrolysis of conjugates/nonconjugated interactions, and extract out the highest chemical constitutes from insoluble complex (Chen et al., 2021; Nguyen et al., 2015; Pintac et al., 2018). Few researchers suggested that efficient extraction of bioactive constituents has required the use of suitable solvents with diverse polarities, solubility because no one single solvent can extract all the diverse bioactive constituents.…”
