Intussusceptions are a common condition seen in children and are rarely seen in adults the etiology is not clearly understood the common know etiology for intussusceptions are polyps, Mikel's diverticulum, carcinomas and idiopathic.The patient presents with nonspecific abdominal pain, vomiting, loss of weight, emaciation, weakness, diarrhoea and in long-standing may lead to anorexia. Due to the low specificity of radiographs, USG is the more specific diagnostic tool for locating the intussusceptions. Here we present a 61-yearold patient who reported to the hospital with pain in the abdomen for two months on clinical examination and USG the patient showed signs of ileocecal intussusceptions which was managed by surgical resection and followed by medication post-operatively the patient was observed for 20 days and the sutures were removed and the patient was discharged. We conclude that surgical resection in the cases of ileocecal intussusceptions proved to be the most effective tool for relieving the symptoms and improving the functionality of the patient.

Intussusception refers to invagination of bowel loops into a neighboring, adjacent bowel segment. While it is not an uncommon entity in paediatrics—about 95% of intussusceptions occur in childhood, merely 5% of them affect the adult population. When affecting the later typically the small intestine is engaged rather than the colon. The diagnosis often represents with unspecific symptoms and is rarely considered a possibility in adults. In the past the diagnosis was typically made intraoperatively. As the Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) of the abdomen became a referral diagnostic method, recognizing the signs of the condition is very important since some of the cases are transient, while others have an underlying malignant cause and more aggressive treatment is required. Surgical treatment planning is mandatory in those neoplastic complicated cases. The presented case report describes the role of radiology and the surgical treatment of a malignant ileocolic intussusception.

Intussusception is the invagination of a proximal bowel segment into a distal segment causing bowel obstruction, especially in children. In some cases, it can be caused by a pathological lead point, such as Burkitt lymphoma. Burkitt lymphoma has several patterns of clinical presentations, such as jaw or facial bone tumor in the endemic form, in contrast to an abdominal presentation most often with massive disease and ascites. We describe a case of a 4-year-old male who presented bowel obstruction. Using X-ray and ultrasound findings, ileocecal intussusception was then diagnosed. Resection and anastomosis was performed after multiple trials of failed hydrostatic reduction. On the pathology report of the resected segment, Burkitt lymphoma was found to be the cause and chemotherapy was initiated. The patient is doing well and is following up every 6 months for 2 years. A pathological lead point, especially Burkitt lymphoma, should be suspected in patients with failed conservative treatment, and prompt diagnosis of the pathology should be performed to prevent further sequela of the disease.
