Thermopuncture for the Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Treatment of Patients with Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract: The combination of the Akabane test with the use of mathematical analysis in patients with T2D makes it possible to trace the entire chain of carbohydrate metabolism at an individual level and to identify the compensatory mechanisms for more effective treatment of reflexotherapy methods. This kind of treatment and monitoring can also be performed by the patient independently in his own home.

“…In general, individual pain sensitivity is the most important parameter of the body's adaptation to external conditions. The method of thermal algometry is known and recognized in the scientific world under the name of the Akabane test [23][24][25][26][27]16.17] and has been widely used by us for 30 years.…”

“…Normally, these scales are in constant rhythmic movement and reflect the biorhythm of the pancreatic organ, which can be assessed by the change in TS in the course of observation. In type 1 diabetes mellitus, with partially preserved activity of A and B cells of the pancreas, there is a sharp asymmetry in the TS according to the test, which reflects the presence of hyper or hypoglycemia at the moment [25,32,33]. At the level of all organs and physiological systems, there are similar subsystems that increase or decrease their functional activity in various spheres of life according to this principle and this is directly reflected in the violation of the symmetry of their TS on both sides.…”

“…She gats intensive insulin therapy using basal-bolus regimens with a total insulin dose of 14 to 55 units per day, depending on the situation. In this case, glycosylated hemoglobin It is known that the pronounced asymmetry between the right and left branches of the AS reflect regulatory malfunctions in the control of the glycemia level by the body [4][5][6][7]16]. As follows from the graph, the greatest asymmetry is observed for AC-LI, PC, GB, KI, BL.…”

“…New possibilities are opened using the Akabane test [1] to monitor these patients, since the test indicators allow you to track the functional activity of various organs and systems involved in digestion [2][3][4][5]. This test also has high correlations with various biochemical parameters of blood, with the level of glycemia [4,6,7]. Thus, according to the test data, one can evaluate the entire chain of carbohydrate metabolism with an assessment of the contribution of each organ or physiological system and with the identification of the level and nature of regulatory failure.…”

“…For Akabane tests we used a special certified device "Merid" [12,13]. This test measures the pain thresholds in temperature sensitivity when heat is applied to the "entrance-exit" points of each channel (LU11, LII1, PC9, TE1, HT9, SI1, SP1, LR1, ST45, GB44, KI1 and BL67) by applying an impulse LED non-coherent IR-light onto the skin (f=1Hz, λ=920nM), with control the total energy expenditure in Joules.…”
