Thermophysical Properties of Isoamyl Acetate or Methyl Benzoate + Hydrocarbon Binary Mixtures, at (303.15 and 313.15) K

Abstract: Densities, viscosities, and refractive indices have been measured for the binary liquid mixtures of isoamyl acetate or methyl benzoate with (o-, m-, and p-) xylenes and ethylbenzene over the entire composition range at (303.15 and 313.15) K. From the experimental data, the values of viscosity deviations ∆η and deviation in molar refraction ∆R have been determined. The values of ∆η and ∆R have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation to determine the binary coefficients and the standard deviation. … Show more

“…There are a number of other papers [106][107][108][109][110][111][112][113][114][115][116][117][118][119] in the literature that purport to report experimental data, but on closer inspection, the data either have been published previously, or refer to an unspecified xylene mixture, rather than p-xylene.…”

“…The uncertainty in the determination of V E m was ±2 Á 10 À3 cm 3 Á mol À1 . Redlich-Kister equation [19] was employed to correlate the results according to equation (2). Experimental data and the results obtained from Redlich-Kister equation as a function of the mole fraction of component 1 (isoamyl acetate) are represented in figures 1 to 3…”

“…Esters are used in flavouring, perfuming, artificial essences, cosmetics, and also they are important solvents in pharmaceutical, paint, and plastic industries [1]. Isoamyl acetate known as banana oil is used as solvent for old colours, perfuming, shoe polish, metallic paints, and photographic films [2].…”

“…In our earlier papers [11][12][13], we have reported some data on thermodynamic, transport, acoustical, and optical properties on mixtures of methyl benzoate with hydrocarbons and ketones and analysed the data in terms of molecular interactions. Several authors have also published density, viscosity, and speed of sound data [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] of binary mixtures of methyl benzoate with different types of organic solvents.…”
