Thermodynamic Models for Determination of the Solubility of Boc-(R)-3-Amino-4-(2, 4, 5-trifluorophenyl)butanoic acid in Different Pure Solvents and (Tetrahydrofuran + n-Butanol) Binary Mixtures with Temperatures from 280.15 to 330.15 K

Abstract: A gravimetric method was taken to measure the solubility of the Boc-(R)-3-amino-4-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)butanoic acid under atmospheric pressure in methanol, ethanol, propanol, n-butanol, ethyl acetate, and tetrahydrofuran as well as in the (tetrahydrofuran + n-butanol) mixtures from 280.15 to 330.15 K.The experiment results have proved that the rising temperature leads to increased solubility of the Boc-(R)-3-amino-4-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)butanoic acid in all selected solvents. The solid−liquid equilibrium … Show more

“…The mole fraction solubility ( x ) with the dependence of absolute temperature T with high accuracy can be described by a frequently used semi empirical equation modified Apelblat model, which was obtained from the Clausius–Clapeyron equation. The equation is expressed as below (eq ).…”

“…The modification of the explicit formula for ideal solubility can be expressed by the λ h model which was proposed by Buchowski et al 1980. ,, It represents the relation between solubility and temperature and can correlate nonideal solution curves with the solubility curves, presented in eq . , where x represents the mole fraction solubility of sulfanilamide in solvents; T refers to absolute temperature; and T m is the solute melting point which was obtained via DSC analysis in this work. λ and h are the equation parameters, λ indicates the nonideal degree of saturated solution and h indicates the enthalpy of solution per mole of solute divided by universal gas constant.…”

“…In conclusion, discussions regarding the correct derivation of a mathematical representation based on a combination of the van’t Hoff and Jouyban–Acree models were given. The mathematical representation has been used by several research groups in reporting their measured solubility data; however, the authors incorrectly state that the final equation is a simple transformation of the Jouyban–Acree model. Research groups often fail to mention that one must describe the solubility in the two mixture cosolvents with the van’t Hoff model in order to correctly arrive at eq .…”
