Solubility Measurement and Correlation of Ceftiofur Sodium Trihydrate in Four Binary Solvent Mixtures

Abstract: The solubility of ceftiofur sodium trihydrate (CST) in binary solvent mixtures of water + acetonitrile, water + ethanol, water + n-propanol, and water + iso-propanol at temperatures from 273.15 to 313.15 K (P = 0.1 MPa) was measured by a laser dynamic method. The experimental results show that the solubility is positively correlated with temperature. In the four binary solvent systems, the solubility value of CST initially increases first and then decreases with increasing organic solvent composition. The maxi… Show more

“…The modified Apelblat model was purposed by Apelblat et al, which can be used to correlate the solubility data in both pure solvent and binary solvent. The model can be expressed as follows. where x refers to the mole fraction solubility of the solute; T is temperature of the solvent system; and A , B , and C are the model parameters.…”

“…The modified Apelblat equation , is another simple semiempirical equation widely used in solubility correlation. The equation is based on the assumption that the enthalpy of the solution varies linearly with the temperature and is deduced through the integration of the Clausius–Clapeyron equation . The common form of the modified Apelblat equation is given in eq where a , b , and c are the three parameters of the equation.…”
